Description

Gorgeously vibrant madras plaid taffeta ballgown, with hook and eye side fasteners and covered buttons to neckline. Sleeves are of course puffed with a little knotted detail.

Bodice features a sweetheart neckline with a slightly stand up collar, which fastens to the rear with covered buttons and loops. There are ruched sections and gathers either side of the waist panel. It´s is a very striking dress and it would look fabulous on the dancefloor - however it does have a few issues (hence the price) so please read the condition report.

Label: None

Measures: Bust 36" inc. darts, waist 28", hips 46", length from waist to hem is 43" (floor sweeping on most)

Condition: As you can see from the last two pictures it has been dancing quite a few times - I pinned the sleeves right up so you can see the marks under the arms. You don´t actually see much of this when it´s worn as the sleeves are puffed, and the worst bit is actually in the crease - I pictured the worst side, the other side is slightly less marked - I haven´t had the dress dry cleaned but the only way to remove watermarks is with water.. and I don´t fancy getting the taffeta wet or it will become limp and misshapen! Other notable flaw is a repaired patch just to the right hand side of the neckline where a piece of fabric has been placed behind. Again, I don´t think it´s terribly obvious (infact i didn´t notice it when I bought the dress) but needs noting. Finally, one of the button loops has previously been repaired and came undone as I was photographing but I will restitch it.

A perfectly wearable dress, great for costume or to be honest an evening´s dancing as it´s only really in good daylight that the flaws become more apparent. It just such a lovely dress that I couldn´t not find it a good home!
